Louboutin recently expanded their makeup line by adding eye and face palettes. So since my low-buy turned to sh*t already, I thought, why not? I have a lipstick and two liquid shadows from Louboutin and love all of it, so it felt like it was appropriate for me to try a cheek product of theirs. And “So Chick” it was.
Top 5 | Best Products from Illamasqua (2021)
Illamasqua was a brand that called out to the atypical and the artistic, and had secured an underground, irreverent space in the makeup world. However, since they were acquired by the Hut Group, they took a turn into the more wearable and the mainstream, which made Illamasqua loose a lot of its identity (and, I suspect, cult following) which is a shame. Still, that doesn’t mean that they stopped doing what they did well. Yes, the colour ranges are getting more basic (just look at the blushes) but there are still some OGs that were great then and are great now – and guess what, some of the newer releases are pretty good too.
Review, Swatches | Sephora Colorful Terrazzo Blush in Chill in the Air Nº45
I saw the Terrazzo blushes for sale on the Sephora website and went out to search for swatches and reviews. Can’t seem to find them anywhere. For any shade. So of course, I had a beauty duty to purchase at least one and try and fill this beauty-sphere gap. So here we are.
Review, Swatches | Dior The Atelier of Dreams Rouge Blush in 601 (Hologlam)
Dior’s Hologlam blush is, if I’m not mistaken, part of the US permanent blush line – and it has always been on my wishlist, but it was not available in this part of Europe. Until now. When I saw this item being released here as part of the holiday collection I ran to grab it (ran as in, I gave my index finger a serious workout session clicking on this item when it showed up online on primor.eu).
Review, Swatches | MAC 2021 Hypnotizing Holiday Collection – Fortune Teller/ Blizzard Wizard Hyper Real Glow Duo, Right Before Your Eyes Shadeshifter Eyeshadow
I don’t get it. When the promotion pictures for this collection came out, “boring”, “not Christmas like”, “looks outdated” were some of the most common comments. Maybe I’ve gone mad, but I think this collection is f*cking adorable.
Top 5 | Favourite Indie Makeup Products (2021)
When preparing for this post, two things surprised me: there are more indie makeup brands than I thought and I have quite a lot of stuff from them; even indie brands discontinue products way too fast.
Top Favourite Lilac and Purple Blushes (2021)
Important Note: this post has been updated in 2023 with even more available shades!
Makeup trends come and go, I know. But with such a saturated industry it was to be expected that here and there a few unique shades of blush would make it to the permanent line of a handful of cosmetic brands, right?! And I think there was a moment when this was true. Newly launched blush lines would have their purple, orange or bright red pop of colour. And it’s 2021 and nearly all have been discontinued.
I could rant about it until I get purple in the face, but instead I’m going to show you some (still available!) options for you to get purple in your face.
Review, Swatches | Dolce & Gabbana Solar Glow: Ultra-Light Bronzing Powder in Sand, Illuminating Powder Duo in Peach Blossom
I promised a review, it’s time to deliver it. Like I mentioned before, I wouldn’t really care if the quality wasn’t that good because the packaging is enough to make me happy. When it comes to makeup, I really can be that superficial. And Dolce & Gabbana might just be my trophy wife (it sure costs that much).
Review, Swatches | Chantecaille Flower Power Cheek Shade (Spring/Summer 2021 Collection)
Chantecaille’s limited edition collections are so well edited. They make up for the small range of products by having beautiful, well thought out packaging. The type you like to display. And the Spring/Summer Flower Power collection is no different.
In this collection the infamous Perfecting Blur Finishing Powder was re-released, to the delight of many. I have the version in last year’s packaging and might be reviewing it. What really intrigued me this year though was the blush. I’m a sucker for a nice blush. And man, was I suckered into this £47 oversized eyeshadow.
Top 5 | Best Peach Blushes (2021)
Spring is coming. The days are longer, the sun is out. Pastels and light, soft colours are of the hour. And I want a peach of that.
Gimme them peach blushes. I want to have resting peach face.
