It’s been a while since I lasted posted about an outfit. Yes, this used to be a beauty and style blog. But the type of work I do can be done from home, and with the streets closed and the events cancelled, one can never find an occasion to strut their stuff – and I got a lot of new stuff to strut during the quarantine.
I’ve referenced in the past that one day, a Danse Lente bag would be mine. After a nearly year-long courtship and a lot of intense sale scouting, a mini Johnny bucket bag was mine. Danse Lente decided to launch the Johnny bucket bags in this pastel yellow/subdued coral colour combination for Spring/Summer 2020, and it was a great choice for warmer weather – it’s feminine, it’s classic, it reminds me of sorbet. It was meant to be.
You know what catches people’s attention? Right now, coughing in public. That and a tight red leather skirt.
I had to get up at 9:00 am on a Saturday. Is that information relevant to this post? No. But I’m still mad about it and I wanted to vent.
Being that I had to get up and out of the house so early, might as well look cute for the day. Spring is around the corner. And layers work great around this time because early in the morning it’s way colder than at noon – yes, 9:00 am is early. Before anyone calls me a wimp because they wake up at something like 6:00 am, let me tell you, 1st, they’re right, 2nd, 6:00 am is not early, it’s ungodly.
Even though I hate gloomy weather, I have been anxiously waiting for an opportunity to use and photograph these rain boots and make a post about them. This was love at first sight. They are colourful. They are Pucci. They have a freaking high heel. Barbie would wear this. My inner child is giddy.
Rain boots, in Portuguese, means galochas. And these are fabulous. Hence, meet the Fabulochas:
You can’t be a shoe enthusiast like me without having a few unconventional pairs on your wardrobe. Or more than a few. Spanning different decades and styles. Hey, it’s shoes, the more the merrier. We shan’t be shoe-shamed.
Anyway, funky shoes, specially if multi-coloured, can be hard to style. Particularly if you want to incorporate them in an office appropriate outfit, which I certainly do. I’ll be damned if I only get to wear these boots during the weekends. There’s always the all-black outfit option, that’s great to have and will always look chic, but I don’t want to keep defaulting to that. So this is my take on a classic yet unorthodox outfit, that I can actually be taken serious in.
It seemed appropriate to post a little black dress outfit in anticipation of the upcoming Valentine’s Day, so here it is.
We were at the garden of the Monserrate Palace, in Sintra. A very romantic place. I wanted to wear something feminine, but it is still winter so I had to prevent the granted hypothermia I would have suffered with just a plain black dress, hence the big fur coat – and I’m wearing skin-coloured tights, by the way. It may not look like it in the photos, but I am. Bare-legged in January is, ironically, a version of Hell for me.
Stop the freaking press, I’m wearing jogging pants.
Have I changed the way I dress? Nop, I was trekking through plants.
In comfortable slacks, but like I vowed: sneakers were still not allowed.
I’ll stop the rhymes and wait for the applause.

Just another winter Sunday. We went to Dear Breakfast again, and I would tell you that I’m always excited to go there because the food is great, which it is, but I would be lying. I’m excited ’cause of Mary. They serve Bloody Mary’s with brunch.
Anyway, it was an excuse to bust out these boho, non-office appropriate over-the-knee boots.
