Vintage Vibes & Versace Jeans: Buckle Up for the Seventies

For being such a fashion fiend as I am, I’m not too big on accessories. Like belts. Belts to me are more utilitarian, and usually concealed under knits and shirts. But I overpaid for a Versace Jeans belt three years ago and I’m determined to get my money’s worth out of it, goddamnit!

Statement belts taking centre stage on high rise bell bottoms were a 70s classic look, so that’s what I went with to get use out of this purchase I regret. I’m finally back to my pre-pregnancy weight and I am eager to wear everything and experiment with fashion again.

Nothing in this look is new, but it’s the first time I’m styling it with such a vintage vibe. I’m wearing high rise, bell bottom corduroy pants in a rust color (could they be any more seventies?) that I bought on a Cortefield outlet, a black tank top (just a basic one from H&M) and the oversized flowy shirt that I’ve had for 10 years is from Mango’s Suit line. I have some pieces from Mango’s Suit line and they are usually great quality.

The bag is my tried and true Burberry Derby Small Banner bag and shoes are from the now defunct portuguese shoe brand Dkode, and they are a sort of brogue heeled clog – not that ancient, but with quite a vintage feel as well.

I paired all of this with an actually vintage gold bracelet that has been around since probably before the seventies (they were inherited). Is it just me or vintage gold jewellery is trendy now?

I like how the belt looks. I do. It’s cute. But it’s sh*tty. As in, not good quality. I’ve worn it twice and the pattern is already starting to peel off (yes, I said twice). For this reason I would not recommend Versace Jeans Couture belts – at least not these baroque-pattern ones. There’s still a lot of items from Versace Jeans on my wishlist though, so if someone has had experience with the brand, let me know how it is, quality wise (I’m not ready to give up yet!).
