Review, Swatches | Lethal Cosmetics Magnetic Face Powder in Aster

I’ve delved into Lethal Cosmetics before but I’ve never tried one of their blushes (shocker, I now). For the first shade I ever tried, I had to go with something unique, because indie brands are the only ones who dare to make unconventional colours. So I chose Aster.

Lethal Cosmetics’ Magnetic Face Powder in the shade Aster can be described as either a dark lilac or a light purple. It is that really in-between shade that I think could work and show up well on a wide range of skintones. It’s also quite neutral toned (neither cool nor warm). The finish is quite luminous, and there is a sheerness to this blush that along with the shine makes it look like a blush-highlighter hybrid.

I tried to capture the shine on the photo on the right below, but still it doesn’t quite makes it justice. I wouldn’t wear highlighter with this blush, it would be overkill for me.

Texture and Application: The blush is very soft and smooth, almost velvety. It can get a bit powdery so I recommend applying it with a less dense, more flimsier brush. It blends well on the skin but if you apply too much it is not that easy to soften the pigmentation.

Pigmentation and Finish: it is heavily pigmented. I would advise using a light hand and building it up. That translucent quality it has makes it look more natural on the skin, even though there is still quite a punch of colour (and let’s face it, it’s not the most natural-looking colour on the cheeks).

Longevity: This lasted very well, I noticed some fading after 11 hours (over a powdered foundation, with no setting spray) and after 12 hours it started to fade unevenly, but it was still quite visible.

Packaging & Other Info: Lethal Cosmetics sells individual pans of eyeshadow and blushes, and they have the empty palettes to put them on, so Aster comes in pan format only, without an individual compact. This retails for 16€, and contains 5 grams of product.

Final Thoughts: This is a really unique blush. It’s a very true lavender colour that is still easy enough to pull off. I’m honestly relieved that I can make it work on my skintone, it actually looks really lovely. It’s at a mid price-point, as it is typical of an indie brand, but I believe it’s worth it. The only nuisance is having to have an available palette to put it in, but if you like lavender blushes, considering how hard they are to find, this is worth that small hassle.
