Review | Patchology FlashMasque Hydrate 5 Minute Sheet Mask

You know what I’m a fan of? Instant gratification. Maximum benefit with minimum effort. No surprise then that I’m into face masks.

Face masks are supposed to give some sort of immediate results because they are a concentrated type of skincare treatment, so much so that they’re supposed to be removed after a short amount of time, unlike serums, oils etc where you need to give it a good few weeks of trial in order to determine their efficacy.

Hence, I feel sceptical whenever I read “no need to rinse” on any mask instructions. This is an indicator that the mask is actually more of a moisturizer, packaged differently. Which is the case for most sheet masks. This one is no different.

It claims it makes a difference after only 5 minutes, but you can leave it on for longer if you want to. I did, for about 20 minutes. It felt nice while wearing it, and even after removing, it left a hydrating film on my skin that didn’t feel sticky or heavy. I wore it at night and the next morning, my face still had some moisturizer left from the mask, which is a feat – but again, it wasn’t uncomfortable or sticky.

And trust me, I hate sticky. Makes me feel like those paper fly traps. Ugh.

The star ingredients in this are Vitamin B5 (Panthenol) and Vitamin E (Tocopheryl Acetate), which are high up in the ingredients list – 7th and 9th place, respectively. Also, glycerin is the second ingredient, which is a very powerful humectant and great for moisturizing. The one downside in the formulation for me is the presence of fragrance, which can be irritating, but honestly, it’s the second to last ingredient in the formulation so the amount is so small it probably harmless for even the most sensitive skin.

This formula would actually be a good face serum. As a sheet mask that you don’t rinse off, I don’t think it would be that much more impactful than a heavy night moisturizer – but with that said, it left my skin visible more hydrated overnight, so 4 out of 5 stars, I would say.
