Makeup Log – 3rd week: in which I gotta get my life together.

Makeup Log is a series where I keep a record of the makeup looks I tried during the work week, the combinations of products I used and how they work out for me in an attempt to find the perfect makeup look for my wedding day. Because I’m crazy and I’ll be doing my own makeup.

For the first half of the week I didn’t have time to do an eye look. For the second half I did but I forgot to take pictures right after and ended up only photographing later in the day at work with sh*tty lighting. Seriously, I gotta get back on track. It’s time to feel motivated again.

Monday and Tuesday

I fell back into a five minute routine. An easy, full coverage foundation that I can apply with my fingers, bit of powder, eyeliner and mascara.

Products used:

  • Shiseido UV Protective Liquid Foundation in Medium Ivory
  • elf Complexion Perfection Powder
  • Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara
  • Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in shade Blacquer
  • Huda Beauty Resting Boss Face Setting Spray

Wednesday

I tried my Nivea primer with the Shiseido foundation – both very long lasting products on their own – but my foundation was patchy and oily at the end of the day It was at the end of a 14 hour day, sure, but still, my makeup has looked better before after so many hours. I don’t know if those two products don’t work well together or if the elf powder made things worse, but still, not a great makeup day.

Products used:

  • Nivea Men’s Aftershave Balm
  • Shiseido UV Protective Liquid Foundation in Medium Ivory
  • elf Complexion Perfection Powder
  • The Body Shop Cheek Colour in 01
  • UDPP
  • Guerlain Eyeshadow Duo in 08 Two Spicy
  • Sephora eyeshadow in universal beige Nº 08
  • Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara
  • Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in shade Blacquer

Thursday

Okay, so there’s something to this Too Faced primer. I really like how the makeup held up through this day. I decide to give some love to my single eyeshadows’ drawer – NYX’s Underneath it All is a long time favourite for a crease colour.

Products used:

  • Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer
  • Catrice HD Liquid Coverage foundation in 010 Light Beige
  • Clinique Almost Powder Makeup in 03 light
  • UDPP
  • NYX Nude Matte Eyeshadow in Underneath it All
  • NYX Prismatic Shadow in Rose Dust
  • The Body Shop Nature’s Minerals Eye Colour in shade 07 Nude Gypsum
  • Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara
  • Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in shade Blacquer
  • Physicians Formula Happy Booster Glow Blush in Natural
  • Huda Beauty Resting Boss Face Setting Spray

Friday

I liked the skin combination so well on Thursday day that I decided to repeated it on Friday. I realised I underestimated this primer. I also loved how the Physicians Formula Natural blush looked on the cheeks the previous day. It’s a soft, natural pink with a subtle glow that lasts all damn day. I think it just became the front runner for the wedding day.

Products used:

  • Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer
  • Catrice HD Liquid Coverage foundation in 010 Light Beige
  • Guerlain Lingerie de Peau Compact in 02 Light
  • Physicians Formula Happy Booster Glow Blush in Natural
  • Kevin Aucoin’s Candlelight Powder from the Contour Book Vol. II
  • UDPP
  • Too Faced Shadow Insurance palette – shade Lucky Charms
  • Wet n Wild Coloricon eyeshadow palette in Comfort Zone – the right Defined shade
  • NYX Nude Matte Eyeshadow in Underneath it All
  • Sephora eyeshadow in universal beige Nº 08
  • Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil
  • Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara
  • Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in shade Blacquer
  • Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil in shade Double Life (lower lashline)
  • Huda Beauty Resting Boss Face Setting Spray

I have strayed away from my wedding eye look to make room for colour and experimentation. I get bored ridiculously fast so I’m allowing myself this tangent. It’s bad enough I’ve only basically used light pink blushes. Hey, at least it’s practice.
