Bronzer Bonanza – A collection review

Bronzer was, for a long time, my least favourite makeup item. I never really understood how to use it because people kept giving contradictory instructions: “apply to the higher points of the face, where the sun naturally hits you”, they say, while demonstrating that you should apply on the temples, under the cheekbone and on the jawline. WTF?

I’m sorry, but my temples are not a high point of the face. That would be the forehead, bridge and tip of the nose, and cheekbone. That’s what gets sunburned.

Words aside, the temple-cheekbone-jawline thing is actually the way to go, I find. Once I made amends with the technique and managed to get myself flatteringly tanned, the collection grew. And here we are.

Like in the last collection post, the ones marked with a ♥ are my most used favourites.

The Decluttering Falacy

Here’s what sparked this post: I have new clothes and the same non-existent space to store them, so I’ve been looking through items in my closet that can be donated. I’ve found two skirts that don’t fit properly anymore and a pair of lavender bell bottom pants. Except my mother told me she could dye them burgundy so the pants are staying.

I took advantage of the momentum and went through my eyeliners (hence the picture). I’m only getting rid of one because it’s the only one that’s dried out.

‘Twas the Time for Tweed

Classic, grown up, subdued prints are major this fall. Plaid, houndstooth, animal prints – the classic neutral tones, not the neon, LMFAO Party Rock music video type colours – and tweed.

So I take a very adult, mature trend and decide to wear it like a school girl.

Project 10 Pan – Powder Purge

In order to curb my desire to acquire more makeup products, I allocate a “small” space in my vanity for them so that I’m constantly faced with the fact that there’s no space for new things. Doesn’t really work. My drawers are filled beyond capacity, and I’ve gotten to the point where it’s not my need for tidiness and practicality that’s stopping me from getting more, it’s physics. It just. won’t. fit.

Burberry Unboxing – Check it out

See what I did there? The Burberry check pattern is probably one of the most recognisable ever – and very on par with the brand itself, it stands the test of time, being that it was registered as a trademark 99 years ago.

This is a designer that I consider carries a genuinely classic collection – yes, because many pieces that get dubbed as “timeless” have a fashion life of about 10 years, but the Burberry trench coat is forever in style. This isn’t the time for a trench unboxing, unfortunately, my wallet is still unprepared for such, but I got myself the next best thing.

My kryptonite.

My love.

My everything: shoes.

Makeup Memory Lane – A look at cult favourites

Having been a makeup hoarder lover for over 10 years, I’ve been trough the online growth of the beauty community. Back in 2008, I wanted to learn how to make my eyes look bigger (they’re tiny) with makeup and so I went on youtube, had almost no relevant search results, and one of the first videos I found and watched was from Panacea81 (Lauren Luke). This was when she was on the rise. That was basically the launch of beauty gurus on youtube.

Guys, I remember the video of the person who invented project pan. I will be doing one soon so I’ll expand on this on that post.

I’ve gone through all the makeup fads since makeup started being a thing in social media. Trends, brands, influencers came and went and I still have the products to remember – them and the money I spent at the time. Here’s a list of some real historical cult favourites (and please, if you ever – or still – own any of these, tell me in the comments, so I don’t feel ancient alone).

An ugly sneaker, by any other name, is still ugly.

I feel like ranting, so indulge me.

I’ve been in Farfetch’s website lately to take advantage of their 30% extra of sale items, and obviously, I’ve browsed the shoe section. Since I tend to remove sneakers from my page – I always filter for mid and high heels – I had the hope feeling that the ugly shoe trend might be gone by now. I mean, it’s been a year.

How naive of me.

Let’s polka again!

Come on lets twist polka again, like you did last summer, bop bop.

It’s been so long since I’ve published that summer came and went and the clothes that I’ve worn past April are weather appropriate again. So this post is still totally relevant.

At the terrace of Casa Pinto, in Monsaraz.
