Review, Swatches | Róen RóGlow Skin Stick in Glazed

For a girl who isn’t that much of a fan of cream-based make-up, I own a lot of stuff from a brand that only offers cream products. Here is another product from Róen, and unlike the others I’ve tried, I seriously doubted I was going to like this one.

The RóGlow Skin Stick in shade Glazed is a twist-up cream highlighter stick in a white-gold colour. This is actually more of a sheer/transparent cream base with a lot of micro, gold-leaning, white shimmer.

Texture and application: this is decently creamy and easy to apply. The texture is just right: not too dry that I would have to tug on the skin, and not overly emollient that I would apply too much product at once. And it is just as easy to apply directly from the tube on the skin, as it it putting it on a finger/brush first then tapping it on the skin. There is a reasonable amount of time to blend out the product before it dries down.

Pigmentation and finish: this is definitely a sheer, more discrete highlighter. The swatches above, both the swipe and the blended one, are heavy applications. Being that this has a transparent base, it makes sense that it’s a less intense highlighter. It’s not exactly “natural”, even though it’s soft, because the highlight is all about the shimmer particles and not an actual reflective sheen. I can build it up, but too heavy of an application just looks like an unflattering clump of shimmer that emphasises skin texture.

Longevity: after drying down, this does not move. There is no need to set it with powder, even if your skin is more on the oily side (like my cheeks are). It lasts until you decide to take it off, and there is basically no shimmer migration. It tested it for 10+ hours and it was just as fresh by the end of the day as when I first applied it.

Packaging & Other Info: This comes in a thick, dark chrome plastic tube that is not heavy but feels high end. It contains 8 grams of product and costs around 33€. It has a strong floral scent that lingers, but it’s a floral with no rose or lavender, so I actually enjoy the scent.

Final Thoughts: turns out, I really like it. I’m usually not a fan of highlighters with detectable individual shimmers, but maybe it’s because this one is a cream texture, I actually like how it looks on the skin. Plus, the fact that I can count on it without worrying about fading or migrating throughout the day is a very big plus. Not what I was expecting, but it’s a nice, albeit subtle, highlighter.
