Review, Swatches | Moira Lucent Cream Shadows in 17 Nimbus, 19 Vega, 21 Rigel, 22 Stella

The Moira Lucent Cream Shadows are cream-to-powder eyeshadows with a lot of shine and shimmer/micro glitter that can look almost wet when worn over a dark base.

The shades names are:

  • Nimbus: light black with multicoloured shimmer;
  • Vega: red with silver shimmer;
  • Rigel: lavender with blue-leaning shimmer;
  • Stella: yellow-orange with yellow shimmer.

Texture: these are creams, ultimately, but feel like a creamy-powder hybrid to the touch. They are not sticky nor tacky.

Application: being creams, they move with the warmth of the skin a bit after applying them. I can apply them with a brush as if they were as a powder eyeshadow, they don’t lift other powder eyeshadows that might be underneath, but they move and mix in/blend into other colours once on the eye and throughout the day (specially Rigel, the lavender colour).

Pigmentation: applying with a finger or brush, with or without primer, pigment is the same. It can be quite opaque in one pass but it can be sheered out if a small amount is applied and blended out.

Longevity: if powder eyeshadows are not used in conjunction with these, they crease and fade after 3 hours without primer, and after 4 hours with. When combining them with powders, they last all day but they do migrate (“spread out” would actually be a more correct term), as does the glitter.

Packaging & Other Info: each compact holds 2,1 grams of product and packaging isn’t airtight but the shadows don’t seem to be drying out. I bought them all on sale for 4,98€ each on Maquibeaty.pt (not affiliated), but full price is 7,95€ on Moira’s website.

Final Thoughts: I like them but performance wise, they fall short – or at least, they didn’t meet my expectations. I expected them to last longer and stay put, but maybe my eyelids are too oily for that. Still, I have other cream eyeshadows that outperform them. I will use them, they are pretty for shiny and ethereal looks, but are less reliable than I would like them to be.
