I told I wasn’t done with this collection. After falling in love with the Shadeshifter eyeshadow in Right Before Your Eyes, I was looking for an excuse to get the remaining shadows that piqued my interest, and the Black Friday sale was the perfect opportunity.Continue reading “Review, Swatches | MAC 2021 Hypnotizing Holiday Collection – Shadeshifter Duochrome Eyeshadows in Ho Ho Hocus, Prrrplexing, Calling Your Bluff”
Here we are, Christmas Eve, and the 12 Days of Christmas finale!! I have to confess, this was a daunting task. A post everyday for 12 days in a row talking about so many favourites was really tiring. I wrote the words “smooth”, “pigmented” and “long lasting” so many times that they’ve lost all meaning. But I’ve pushed through and this project is now fully birthed. Just in time for the most famous birthday of them all.
This post will contain the best makeup products that I’ve tried and have come out in 2021 (limited edition or not).Continue reading “Day 12 of 12 Days of Xmas 2021: My Favourite Products From 2021”
Illamasqua was a brand that called out to the atypical and the artistic, and had secured an underground, irreverent space in the makeup world. However, since they were acquired by the Hut Group, they took a turn into the more wearable and the mainstream, which made Illamasqua loose a lot of its identity (and, I suspect, cult following) which is a shame. Still, that doesn’t mean that they stopped doing what they did well. Yes, the colour ranges are getting more basic (just look at the blushes) but there are still some OGs that were great then and are great now – and guess what, some of the newer releases are pretty good too.Continue reading “Top 5 | Best Products from Illamasqua (2021)”
For all that I brag about knowing (and loving) MAC’s Extra Dimension formula, I’ve never tried the eyeshadows. I guess a kit with two of those, a liner and a mascara, and a 20% discount was what it took. Oh, and a pouch. I actually really love the pouch.Continue reading “Review, Swatches | MAC 2021 Hypnotizing Holiday Collection – Now You See Me Extra Dimension Golden Eye Kit”
I don’t get it. When the promotion pictures for this collection came out, “boring”, “not Christmas like”, “looks outdated” were some of the most common comments. Maybe I’ve gone mad, but I think this collection is f*cking adorable.Continue reading “Review, Swatches | MAC 2021 Hypnotizing Holiday Collection – Fortune Teller/ Blizzard Wizard Hyper Real Glow Duo, Right Before Your Eyes Shadeshifter Eyeshadow”
When preparing for this post, two things surprised me: there are more indie makeup brands than I thought and I have quite a lot of stuff from them; even indie brands discontinue products way too fast.Continue reading “Top 5 | Favourite Indie Makeup Products (2021)”
Over the past few years, indie brands have been multiplying faster than rabbits – it’s that and celebrity beauty lines. Everybody wants to cash in on Rihanna’s idea. Indie brands, however have been changing the makeup game – multi chromes, unconventional shades – it’s so much more about filling the gap in the industry and less about selling to the masses – or at least, what the industry traditionally thinks is marketable to masses. In a nutshell, indie brands don’t care about the “enhancing your natural features” spiel, it’s all about artistry and self-expression. Fine by me, I love it all.
One of these brands that really caught my attention was Lethal Cosmetics, mainly because of two things:Continue reading “Review, Swatches | Lethal Cosmetics Matte Eyeshadows”
As of today, my most viewed post is a review of Kiko’s Sunshine Tuscan Blushes. I guess I understand why, since Kiko is one of those brands that has a huge line and frequently comes out with limited edition collections, yet there aren’t that many reviews out there.
They also have really good sales and are known for some high end dupes. But they tend to discontinue a lot of their core products, and I have tried more than one dud. So here are my recommendations for Kiko permanent collection products if you want to try the brand, (or just want to enlarge your collection and are checking what else to get to reach the free shipping value, like I usually do. Can’t be having those makeup drawers with any extra room, right?).Continue reading “Top 5 | Best Products from KIKO (2021)”
Ahh, Louboutin. This is the “I’ve made it” brand for me. I remember thinking, when the lipsticks came out a long time ago, “Even if someday I can afford it, I won’t buy it, because it’ll never be worth it”, which is something a broke girl tells herself to feel better while secretly envying all the boujee bloggers and youtubers who had it. Well, look at me now, eating my words and loving it. Happy to be a hypocrite.Continue reading “Review, Swatches | Christian Louboutin Tape à L’Oeil Matte Nude Eye Colour in Lola (451) and Mariza (455)”
Urban Decay was one of my first makeup loves. Our relationship was solid for almost 10 years, but the last few have been rocky. I felt betrayed by the discontinuation of the Naked palette, my favourite thing about Urban Decay, and the new additions to the permanent line were no longer characteristic of the brand I fell in love with.
That said, I feel like there is some urgency in talking about their good products because everything that’s good is being discontinued and the new launches have been terrible. So before they get rid of everything good (like they did with the loose powder, the highlighters, the blushes), here are the top 5 products currently available that are true winners:Continue reading “Top 5 | Best Products from Urban Decay (2021)”
