Review, Swatches | Flower Knows Strawberry Rococo Blush in 02 Pure Rhyme

Flower Knows Pure Rhyme review swatches

Is that the most beautiful pan embossing ever, or is that the most beautiful pan embossing ever? This is such eye candy that makes you wonder if Flower Knows thrives by just resting on pretty.

The intricacy reminds me of the now gone blushes from Ladurée. This is the type of thing that appeals to both my inner child and my French coquette alter ego (if I had one). Pure Rhyme is the shade in the Strawberry Rococo collection that is closest to being lilac, so in my never ending quest for that shade I decided to try it out.

The color is a cool toned mauve in the pan but it looks lighter and brighter on the skin. There is a translucency to it that is not due to lack of pigmentation, and this is a quality that I’ve been seeing more and more in traditional powder blushes. I find that feature suits powder blushes perfectly because if the skin underneath peaks through the blush colour, they look much more natural on the cheeks.

On the skin this actually looks quite lavender-ish. I’m including a few comparison swatches below. I swatched it right next to MAC’s Full of Joy because that is a true lilac blush (that I can still pull off), and I’m surprised at how close it gets to that shade. It’s not a dupe, but it goes to show just how cool toned Pure Rhyme is. I also swatched a discontinued MAC blush this reminded me of, Coygirl, but turns out that is a lot darker.

Texture wise the powder is soft to the touch, and very easy to blend out. I had the right amount of colour for my skintone in just one swipe, making this one of the easiest blushes to apply that I own, and can build it up but that’ll take quite a few layers. As I’ve checked before with other Flower Knows products, it is softness and sheerness over opacity and pigmentation, which makes me doubt this will work on darker skintones.

That being said, now I’m very curious about their brighter blush options, and I wonder if they are as easy to make look good on me as this was.

Longevity wise, this lasted all day. I tried it on one of those lazy days where I didn’t even set my face with powder or setting spray, and this was still going strong at midnight when I took it off.

The compact is plastic but feels heavy, there is a mirror on the inside, and the total amount is 5 grams for 23,92€. Not a bad price considering what you are getting. If you have a fair or light complexion, I give this shade my full-fledged endorsement. Probably my favourite product from Flower Knows that is still available.
