Ecooking is a Danish brand created by an Tina Søgaard, who was already working in the beauty industry before she started creating these products in her kitchen, bringing in raw ingredients from the laboratories she worked on (hence the name). These products have developed into an environmentally conscious, “clean” skincare brand. Uh oh.
Brand Review | StarSkin (100% Camelia 2-Step Oil mask, Smoothing Eye Masks, Nourishing Hand Mask)
StarSkin is a brand that focuses a lot on sheet masks. They also have other products but the masks are by far the most popular. It’s a relatively young brand (2015) and it’s a regular appearance on beauty boxes and advent calendars, which is where I got everything I ever had from them.
The brand claims to be inspired by South Korean skincare. They also claim to be 100% natural and clean beauty, which is usually a bad sign. Although “natural” and “clean” claims have no scientific foundation nor are they regulated terms, meaning any brand can claim to be natural and clean regardless of the ingredients they use, it usually is a sign that there will be a lot of essential oils in the formulations of that skincare brand, in detriment of actually good ingredients. Essential oils are mainly perfuming ingredients that commonly have the potential to irritate the skin.
So the first thing I did was focus on the ingredients list. And saying I was surprised is a f*cking understatement.
Look Fantastic Easter Egg 2021 – Worth £220
The Look Fantastic Easter collection will launch on March 8th, and it will be £65 for 6 products, or £55 for their beauty box subscribers.
Is the value really £230? I did the math. Here’s what it contains:
Review | MAULI Supreme Skin Cleansing Oil
I’m not a fan of oily textures when it comes to skincare. That being said, this past year I’ve discovered and fallen in love with emulsifying oil cleansers. It took me way longer than I care to admit to find out about those. It’s shameful. Not only because I pride myself in being a connoisseur of all things makeup related, but because I might have gone through cleansers more often and stumble upon these sooner if I didn’t skip taking off my makeup before going to bed so often.
Yep, I’m one of those.
Cult Beauty Self Care Goody Bag: Unboxing & Opinions
It finally got here!
In order to get the Cult Beauty Self Care goody bag I purchased the RIKI Skinny mirror (review coming soon). I have been lusting for a good makeup mirror that would mimic natural lighting and allow me to do my makeup well even at night, but those things are expensive. At £175, it was the perfect time to get it, because the Cult Beauty Goody Bag required a minimum spending of £170.
Here are my thoughts and opinions about the goody bag.
Look Fantastic Mother’s Day 2021 Beauty Box (worth £216)
I have to credit Lady Writes (on youtube) for this, as she was the first to post about this (that I saw) and warn that this limited edition beauty box will be available February 22nd. She did a whole unboxing, I suggest you watch her video. The page for purchasing the beauty box is already available on Look Fantastic’s website (here). The product appears as sold out but I believe it’s because it did not launch yet and will became available for sale next Monday.
Review | Sisley Super Soin Tinted Sun Care SPF 30 (shade 1-Natural)
Is it a sunscreen? Is it a foundation? Most importantly, is it worth it?
I first heard about this product from Michele Wang, when she mentioned in a video that this was great as a foundation because the coverage was pretty good. She has dry skin and loves this, but she mentioned another beauty reviewer with oilier skin also loved it, so it seems to be a product that adapts well to multiple skin types. This sparked my curiosity and stayed in the back of my mind, because my wallet wouldn’t allow it to go to the back of my drawer.
Review | The Ordinary Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2% and How to Use It
This product is my best skincare “secret”. So underrated. A lot of people just don’t like it. And I get it. She’s not easy to get to know. She’s stings. Literally. But if you give her a chance, you’ll love her.
The Self Care Goody Bag from Cult Beauty (2021) – a 320£ Value
The first big goody bag from Cult Beauty is coming. I received an email today with the 24h priority access to it this goody bag (for being a frequent customer, I guess?). So I’m assuming it will be advertised in the Cult Beauty website tomorrow for everyone to see. I already placed an order and it’s on its way to me. Read ahead to see what comes in this goody bag.
Review | Simple Water Boost Hydrating Gel Cream (a solution for oily dehydrated sensitive skin)
You know how, even though you feel very powerful in a freakum dress and high heels, you sometimes just need to put on that beat up cardigan and loose sweat pants and be comfortable and snug? This is what this product is. The granny pants of moisturizers. Not very sexy, definitely not something new, but God forbid if you don’t have one.
