U Beauty’s philosophy revolves around streamlining and reducing the amount of skincare products one has to use day to day. It’s meant to reduce a 12 step routine into a 2 step one, I guess, because they only make 2 products for the face so far, and the price for both of those is enough to purchase a 12 step routine, two times over. At least.

Being a beauty box subscriber and a GWP enthusiast, I end up with a lot of masks. Mini masks, full size masks, sample masks, sheet masks. And sometimes I struggle to find enough to say to dedicate a full post to a singular mask. So it makes sense to me to group 5 masks of the same type for a quick round of short reviews.
The theme today are hydrating, calming face sheet masks, from 5 different brands.
Gender neutral, ingredient focused, inexpensive and TikTok famous. Sounds like The Ordinary good, right? Over the past few months, I’ve been testing out quite an assortment of The Inkey List’s skincare products to see if they can make my skin look as Gen Z as the audience they market to.
I’ve spent more on beauty during my honeymoon in Santorini than I’ve ever spent on any other trip. I had no idea that Greece had so many beauty brands! I knew about Korres and that was it. So when I went to a department store and saw so many greek makeup brands, I kind of lost it a bit. Like a kid at a candy store that is spending grandma’s money, because we all know mama won’t put up with it. I had to get myself out of there at some point because I was buying the entire store.

In my defence, this is over 2 months’ worth of purchases. Since I’ve been pretending trying to cut back on my makeup and skincare purchases, I’ve really gotten into haircare and fragrance. A ridiculous transition, I know, since I was trying to save on beauty spending, but alas, it still happened, and here we are.
This post is really, really overdue. The plastic of these empty containers is about to deteriorate, that’s how long overdue this post is. I keep holding on to all of these empty containers until I write this damn post, and I’m already a shopaholic, I don’t need to keep trash around to make me feel even more of a hoarder.
This March I received my 12th LookFantastic beauty box. Since this beauty box has a subscription plan that goes up to 12 months, I wanted to make a retrospective analysis of what I have received over the past year, so in case anyone is considering that subscription they might more or less know what to expect.
Did I find any new holy grails? Was there a lot of brand repetition? How’s the proportion of skin care vs makeup? How many products were just crap? How many full sizes?

Ecooking is a Danish brand created by an Tina Søgaard, who was already working in the beauty industry before she started creating these products in her kitchen, bringing in raw ingredients from the laboratories she worked on (hence the name). These products have developed into an environmentally conscious, “clean” skincare brand. Uh oh.
