Review, Swatches | Karla Cosmetics Multichrome Eyeshadows in Siesta and Neverland

I’ve tried the loose version of one of Karla Cosmetics Multichrome eyeshadows before, but I don’t really like to mess with loose powders, so I decided to get pressed versions next time. Well, that backfired on me, didn’t it? This is incredibly fragile and prone to breaking. But at least the shades are gorgeous.

Siesta is a deep emerald green that shifts from lighter green to teal to blue to almost a deep indigo. Neverland is an antique gold that shifts from yellow green to olive green to a light mauve-pink (althougth this last shade I couldn’t quite capture in the swatches, but trust me, it’s there).

Texture & Application: the eyeshadows feel quite thin, dry, and very finely milled. There is no creaminess to them (and they don’t feel gritty either) but that does not negatively affect the way they apply. It’s easy to pick up a lot of colour with a brush and I don’t notice any fallout when applying them to the lid.

Pigmentation: both are decently pigmented. The product needs to be packed (not swiped) on the lid in order to get the necessary opacity for the full multichrome effect, but it doesn’t take too much product nor too much effort to get there. On the lid, once the shadows are fully packed on, the multiple shades of each multichrome are easier to detect (as opposed to the hand swatch).

Longevity: with a primer underneath, these lasted all day (over 10 hours) without creasing. Neverland was slightly faded by the end of the day, but nothing too drastic, and Siesta was as intense as when the day began. I’ve always used them on the lid and there is a bit of migration into the crease by the end of the day, but again, nothing too noticeable.

Packaging & Other Info: I have a multichrome from Karla Cosmetics in the loose form, and while I really appreciate the convenience of the pressed pans, they are very prone to breaking, throwing that convenience out the window. That Siesta shade, I didn’t even drop it, and it broke. Also, the pressed eyeshadows are much more expensive (25,95€ vs 14,95€ for the loose), for the same amount of product (only 1 gram). Stick with the loose version.

Final Thoughts: I really like these. Karla Cosmetics was the first brand I ever bought multichromes from, and although I enjoy the first shade I ever got (Lullaby) these two actually perform better, longevity wise. Not all multichromes are built the same, but these two are winners.
