Red Dress and Black Boots, the Devilish Duo

A form fitting dress with over the knee boots is not exactly my go to silhouette nowadays, but I was missing my early twenties and I’m still celebrating the fact that I managed to get back to my pre-baby shape (well, for the most part. RIP waistline).

I bought the Ba&Sh red knit dress online (previously mentioned here) and one thing that annoyed me about that experience was the fact that the crystal bird that is embroidered on the side was not clearly visible on the website photos. Fortunately it didn’t disappoint. The main reason I was interested in this dress, besides the colour, is that it reminded me of princess Diana’s embroidered falcons on her Saudi Arabia gown that I was lucky enough to see in person during my last trip to London. I don’t know if it was the brand’s intention but it felt like an ode to one of her iconic dresses, and that made me want to own it.

The dress has an open back, which though beautiful, is not very practical for a wool and cashmere blend knit that I can only wear during the cold weather. I wore a sheer high neck long sleeved top underneath so I wouldn’t get pneumonia. I also wore my over the knee boots from Mimmu. The boots, though flat (usually a deal breaker), have some gorgeous lace and sequinned flower embroidery throughout, and that more than makes up for the lack of heel. To top it off I paired all of this with my Burberry Derby bag.
