Runway to My Way: Marques’Almeida Mesh Pink Dress

I’ve been so into fashion lately, it’s insane. I spent way to much money this season. I’ve bought a subscription to Vogue. And I’ve been hunting down pieces I see on the actual runway. Hence this new series, Runway to My Way, where I show my styling of garments we see in shows. And there is no better place to start than with this Marques’Almeida dress.

With my newly reinstated love for fashion, I’ve been falling more and more for Marques’Almeida as a brand. Mainly because of their aesthetic, and on a small part because both designers are Portuguese (even though this is a London based brand). I like their very urban, distressed, colourful approach to fashion, and they have the perfect pieces to pair up with very formal attire to give it an interesting twist. That was my idea with this see-through, hem-less, ruching-filled, with a thigh high slit, mesh dress.

The dress is a size EU 36, and I would say it fits true to size since it’s slightly big on me (I’m usually a size 34). It still fits properly since it’s a stretchy fabric, so if you are between sizes you can safely go a size up.

I bought a skin toned, tight jumpsuit from Good American to wear underneath see-through dresses and that’s what I’m using here, but honestly, as long as you’re wearing skin toned underwear, you’ll be fine – this isn’t scandalously transparent. I put a 10 year old H&M black blazer over the dress, and wore my Tommy Hilfiger knee high black boots. To top it off, I chose to wear my Ganni handbag – one of my favourite bags of all time: great quality, neutral yet colourful enough to remain interesting, and incredibly spacious.

I apologize for the slightly blurred pictures and the fingerprint – filled mirror. I would say the next post will be better, but we all know it probably won’t.

Styling anything with black is always a safer choice, but this would also look good with reds and burgundies. Denim would look great with it too. Next time I’ll probable try to mix prints. I’m happy I was able to find this dress, it’s a statement piece and a already a favourite.
