Review, Swatches | Haus Labs Powder Sculpt Velvet Bronzer in Light Level 4

After the hit that was the Bio-Radiant Highlighter, I had high expectations for the other face product I got from Haus Labs: the bronzer.

You know what, it is possible that there may be some faults with this brand, but it’s certainly not on their bronzers that you’ll find them.

The shade that I chose was Light Level 4. The fact that the best shade for someone as pale as me is number 4 is a testimony to how large of a shade range they offer. Light Level 4 is a light to medium, golden toned brown with a hint of red in it. The finish is a soft matte (very akin to skin, I would say).

Texture and application: to the touch, the powder almost feels like a cream. It is definitely a powder-gel hybrid, just like the highlighters are. It is a bit less firm in the pan though, and I find that a fluffier type of brush is still able to pick up a good amount of product. There is no hint of powdery-ness, no powder kick up on the pan. Application wise, this is incredibly easy to blend out. One of the easiest powders to blend out that I’ve ever tried. I over applied on purpose just to try it out, attempted to make myself look like a muddy clown but to no avail, this blends out like a dream. Foolproof application.

Pigmentation and finish: pigmentation is medium to high, but it’s easy to control (either to build up or to sheer out). The finish is a natural matte, with just the slightest luminosity, and like it’s typical with this formula, the more you blend it in the more it looks like part of the skin.

Longevity: this was another one of those products that lasted for as long as I wore it. After almost 14 hours I could tell it was ever so slightly faded on the forehead area, but other than that, it was looking just as I first applied it (I wore it over foundation and powder, but with no setting spray).

Packaging and other info: the packaging is very similar to the highlighter (well made, heavy plastic compact with no hard edges, big and with a big mirror on the inside) but with a rubbery matte cover on top of the lid. The total amount is 12 grams, which is on the large end of the spectrum for bronzers. Price is 43,95.

Final thoughts: a big contender for my favourite bronzer of all time. Definitely top 5. I am very happy with this: it’s reliable, it fits my skintone wonderfully and is super easy to use. It’s not exactly cheap, but comparing to my other high end bronzers, it’s definitely not the worst offender when it comes to price. Absolutely worth it.
