Review, Swatches | Dior Backstage Rosy Glow Blush in Coral

Dior is releasing more (inclusive) shades within the Backstage Rosy Glow Blush line, and a review of the formula is in order. I recently bought the shade Coral (obviously, I love coral), so that’s the one I’ll be reviewing.

The colour is a light to medium, warm, pink leaning coral. There is no shine and no shimmer, but there is a certain glow to the blush, like a more-luminous-than-typical satin finish.

Texture and application: the blush feels like a very soft, smooth powder. It’s a traditional powder, firmly pressed so there is no powder kick up on the pan, but not stiff or dry, so it’s easy to pick up with a brush. On the cheeks, it is incredibly easy to blend out. There was no patchiness.

Pigmentation and finish: pigmentation is sheer, but easily buildable. Sheerness in blushes is something that I’ve come to appreciate a lot. It makes it a lot easier to control the application, and the transparency makes it so that the blush looks more natural. The Rosy Glow blush in Coral not only looks incredibly natural, it also has a slight blurring effect on the skin. The soft shade, the slightly luminous finish, the blurring effect – this blush really makes the skin look good.

Longevity: the blush lasted well for the whole time I wore it (over 10 hours, over foundation and setting powder, but with no setting spray). I didn’t really noticed any fading by the time I removed my makeup.

Packaging and other info: the compact is quite small and does not feel luxurious, but I wouldn’t call it cheap either. There is a mirror on the inside but it’s kind of blurry, it looks like a mirrored sticker instead of actual glass. The backstage line from Dior Beauty is their least expensive line, although not inexpensive at all. This blush costs 40,99€, and the total amount is 4,6 grams (which leans on the smaller size for a regular blush), so I think for the price at least the mirror could be a bit better. It has a very faint perfume-y scent. It’s pleasant, and you have to get your nose close to the pan to detect it.

Final thoughts: hopefully the new shades are just as good as this one (although I’ve seen a review where that is not the case). I’m so happy with this Coral shade that I’m strongly considering getting the original colour, 001 Pink. It is a popular blush, and I can certainly see why. It’s lovely to use, and a reliable product. I recommend it fully.
