Makeup Log – 2nd week: something old, something new, something pink

I should have posted this on Sunday, but life has been crazy. Plus, I had a bad weekend. Bah. So just know that this post refers from the 24th to the 28th of February.

Last week was time to test out pink blushes.

Makeup Log is a series where I keep a record of the makeup looks I tried during the work week and the combinations of products and how they work out for me in an attempt to find the perfect makeup look for my wedding day. Because I’m crazy and I’ll be doing my own makeup.

Monday

I didn’t feel like making a wedding eye look today. I need variety. So I just did whatever I felt like on the eyes and just tried out a light pink blush and cool toned highlighter on the cheeks.

Tuesday

I was inspired by colour. I won’t be using blue for my wedding eye look, but I felt like experimenting, so I used some good old reliable MAC eyeshadows – they were popular for a reason. I used the Becca corrector and then the Maybelline concealer together and didn’t like it: too cake-y. I also used a purple YSL blush from a limited edition from a while back: this is beautiful, it came out in a time where purple blushes were rare and far between and I was so happy to get my hands on it.

Wednesday

I was in a rush again (what’s up with me and Wednesdays??) so no eye look. I officially don’t like the Huda Beauty spray, but I have to use it up now.

Thursday

Again, in a rush, so no eye look. I did slap some shiny cream eyeshadow on my eyelids. This Make Up Forever Aqua Cream has lasted me forever – and I suppose I officially hit pan. I used the Urban Decay Obsessed blush for the first time today, even though I got it a while ago. It’s a pretty blush, but too pink for the wedding look. I’m looking for something a bit more subdued.

Products used:

  • Smashbox Primer Water
  • Shiseido UV Protective Liquid Foundation in Medium Ivory
  • Guerlain Lingerie de Peau Compact in 02 Light
  • Urban Decay Afterglow 8 hour Powder Blush in Obsessed
  • MUFE Aqua Cream eyeshadow in shade 13

  • Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara
  • Huda Beauty Resting Boss Face Setting Spray

Friday

This was my last day at my old job. I’ll miss the people. I did take my time doing a purple eye look, with some old school Milani and Catrice eyeshadows. This really was a throwback week. The Body Shop blush I used also has a few years on it – and I think this line was discontinued/replaced, but this is still beautiful and works great. It’s a strong contender for the wedding look.

Products used:

  • MAC Strobe Cream in Goldlite
  • Catrice HD Liquid Coverage foundation in 010 Light Beige
  • elf Complexion Perfection Powder
  • UDPP
  • Milani eyeshadow in 16 Marooned
  • Catrice Absolute Eye Colour in 290 I Like Lilac
  • The Body Shop Nature’s Minerals Eye Colour in shade 07 Nude Gypsum
  • Huda Beauty Neon Obsessions eyeshadow palette in the pink shade
  • Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in shade Blacquer
  • Maybelline mascara
  • The Body Shop Cheek Colour in 01
  • Mac Shooting Star Opalescent Powder highlighter (not depicted because I forgot to add it in the photo)
  • Huda Beauty Resting Boss Face Setting Spray

Using some old favourites this past week reminded me of how much fun makeup is, and how much I enjoyed getting it in a time where choices were scarcer and budget was tighter. When it comes to the wedding look, I think a neutral pink blush is definitely the way to go.

This current week has been better, but not magical. The new job is going great and I’m motivated, but though times are yet to come. I’m hoping for the best.
