Shop & Tell: Sales & Steals

I love post-Christmas sales. ‘Tis the perfect time for retail therapy. The makeup sets that are already a good value to begin with get even more discounted and it’s my goddamn kryptonite – and I was rushing to get this post out because these products are still all available and all on sale.

Plethora of Powder – A collection review

This is like winter: it was coming, but took a damn long time. I took this photo back in October of last year, and I’ve since actually finished some of these powders, so this isn’t my current collection per se, but it’ll still be useful for the mini-review for any of you powder-review-wondering souls.

And due to my current Project 10 Pan, the collection hasn’t grown more than this. Yey me. Yeah…

Well-

Ok, I have gotten one powder foundation since this picture was taken that I justified to myself was ok because it was a foundation, not a powder even though I use it as a powder so it doesn’t count. Technically. Right?

Now for the breakdown (favourites are marked with a ♥):

Review, Swatches | Marc Jacobs Holiday Collection: Pop Rox Glam Glitter and the Jet Girl O!Mega Luminizer that no one is talking about

This post was anticipated due to the current Sephora Surprise Sale for Black Friday, because one of these items is currently 30% off.

I missed out on Marc Jacobs’ holiday makeup collection last year, so when I read that the brand was coming out with the See-quins Glam Glitter eyeshadows again I jumped on it as fast as the first Sephora sale would allow me. I managed to refrain myself and got only one colour, Pop Rox.

Fast forward a month or so, and they launch, still as part of the holiday collection, a new highlighter, the (it’s a mouthful) O!Mega Glaze All-Over Foil Luminizer in Jet Girl. They had already released a highlighter at the same time as the See-quins Glam Glitter shadows, Showstopper, and it didn’t get the best reviews – less luminosity and more glitter, in short. I took the advise of beauty reviewers out there and didn’t got that one. This new highlighter though, is redemption in luminous form.

Here are reviews and swatches:

Shop & Tell: MAC’s 2019 Holiday Collection Face Compacts and Opalescent Powder (with swatches!)

It’s been a while since I’ve been so into a holiday collection to want to buy multiple products from it. I actually got these as soon as they came out, in fear they would sell out, but only got around to post about them now. Is this still relevant? Am I still on time?

You have to give me a break people, my kitchen is in shambles. Pre-Christmas construction work. Fun.

Planning a wedding, renovations in our home, on top of the budget closing, objective fulfilling, end-of-the-year season at my job: it’s been stressful. And I’ve been well behaved. Soooo I got myself a few treats. The two face palettes because I couldn’t decide between them and an extra highlighter because it was pretty and shinny.

Review | Sephora Favorites – Nude Look

So Sephora speaks American English. Even in European stores. I’m gonna shut up before saying anything too politically incorrect over the lack of an “u” in the product name and show you what you came here for.

This won’t be an in-depth review as I haven’t tested these products fully, but more of an insight of what you get with this set, and if it’s worth it. The regular price is 32,60 euros but I purchased it with 20% off.

Project 10 Pan – Powder Purge

In order to curb my desire to acquire more makeup products, I allocate a “small” space in my vanity for them so that I’m constantly faced with the fact that there’s no space for new things. Doesn’t really work. My drawers are filled beyond capacity, and I’ve gotten to the point where it’s not my need for tidiness and practicality that’s stopping me from getting more, it’s physics. It just. won’t. fit.

Makeup Memory Lane – A look at cult favourites

Having been a makeup hoarder lover for over 10 years, I’ve been trough the online growth of the beauty community. Back in 2008, I wanted to learn how to make my eyes look bigger (they’re tiny) with makeup and so I went on youtube, had almost no relevant search results, and one of the first videos I found and watched was from Panacea81 (Lauren Luke). This was when she was on the rise. That was basically the launch of beauty gurus on youtube.

Guys, I remember the video of the person who invented project pan. I will be doing one soon so I’ll expand on this on that post.

I’ve gone through all the makeup fads since makeup started being a thing in social media. Trends, brands, influencers came and went and I still have the products to remember – them and the money I spent at the time. Here’s a list of some real historical cult favourites (and please, if you ever – or still – own any of these, tell me in the comments, so I don’t feel ancient alone).

Glow Galore – a highlighter collection review

Collection posts are fun. At least I love to read them. It’s like someone giving a tour of their candy shop. And you go along and think “I want that. And that. And that one. I want that…”.

I’ll give a short description/overview of each product here. If you have questions about a specific one or even would like a more in-depth review, feel free to ask in the comments. The ones marked with a ♥ are my most used favourites.

Unexpected and Useful Makeup & Beauty Websites

I love the multitude of beauty bloggers and youtubers that fill the internet with reviews and tutorials, but this post isn’t about them. That would be a never-ending list. This is a more finite type of post that showcases pages and websites that answer those questions you don’t remember to ask but have always been curious to know. Beyond opinions and “How to apply ___” magazine articles.

Most of them have a more science-y side of beauty and cosmetics (I’m a geek). Here they are, by category:
