Every year, Guerlain launches a limited edition Terracotta powder for summer. I’ve been able to resist the more recent releases but this year the flower pan design got to me. It’s been a while since I’ve tried the formula, and I’m able to report that things haven’t changed a bit.
My Visit to the Guerlain Champs Élysées Flagship Store, a Must Do in Paris
Of all the widely distributed fragrance brands, Guerlain is my favourite. It’s obvious that it was started by a perfumer and not a fashion house that eventually launched a beauty line. Guerlain has 193 years of history and it shows. Their shop in Champs Élysées dates back to 1914 and it’s an ode to sensorial beauty that is, in my opinion, a what-to-see must in Paris.
Day 12 of 12 Days of Xmas 2021: My Favourite Products From 2021
Here we are, Christmas Eve, and the 12 Days of Christmas finale!! I have to confess, this was a daunting task. A post everyday for 12 days in a row talking about so many favourites was really tiring. I wrote the words “smooth”, “pigmented” and “long lasting” so many times that they’ve lost all meaning. But I’ve pushed through and this project is now fully birthed. Just in time for the most famous birthday of them all.
This post will contain the best makeup products that I’ve tried and have come out in 2021 (limited edition or not).
Day 9 of 12 Days of Xmas 2021: My Favourite Powders
Yes, I have nine favourite powders. I was trying to find the perfect powder for my wedding day and ended up collecting a few favourites that are ideal for multiple different situations. Powder is the last step for complexion makeup, so it’s what makes or breaks how your skin looks, and I guess that’s why I ended up trying so many. Let’s powder up, buttercup.
Day 3 of 12 Days of Xmas 2021: My Favourite Primers
Primer is generally one of those products that tend to fall through the cracks – ironic, since they’re supposed to fill cracks – when it comes to general makeup hype. They’re not sexy, but they make a hell of a difference when you use it. Like shapewear underpants. These are, in my opinion, the best stuff out there to tighten and smooth our faces with.
A Beauty Haul from Paris
I’ve been in Paris this last week. It was everything everyone promised: beautiful, boogie, bountiful. I binged on baguettes. I bought a beret. And brought myself to the brink of bankruptcy.
Review, Swatches | Guerlain Gold Pearls Météorites (Holiday 2021)
Guerlain Météorites is the “Home Alone” of makeup – you can always count on seeing it during Christmas. And Guerlain has been launching limited edition versions of their Météorites powder for probably as long as that movie is out. Not all of them catch my attention, because with so many iterations there’s obviously going to be some overlap, and honestly, this year kind of started out that way.
Fragrance Review | Mon Guerlain Eau de Parfum
Mon Guerlain is a funny coincidence in my life. I bought it at an airport, without having heard of it before, and decided to commit to it on first whiff. Came to learn, a lot of people describe it as a “wife scent”. And that time at the airport, when I decided to get it, I was getting ready to board to go to Greece for my honeymoon. This is the first perfume I purchased after getting married.
Top 5 | Best Lipsticks for Summer 2021
If I had to give this summer a signature lipstick colour, I would say a bright orange red. Summer makeup collections are typically filled with juicy corals and watermelon reds, but this year in particular a strong orange undertone seems to be dominating the lip scene. I’m all for it.
My Wedding Makeup
Last year, before the pandemic derailed everything, I started a series called Makeup Log, where I posted my daily makeup looks in order to keep a record of different product combinations, so that I could find the perfect makeup look for my wedding day. Because I would be doing it myself.
With over a year of minimal makeup wear and a wedding date set to May, I should have started practicing around March. At least. But I’m a procrastinator first and a bride second, so two weeks before the date felt like enough time to me. Two days before was when I actually started.
