Review, Swatches | Flower Knows Circus Loose Powder in 02 Beige

Flower Knows must know something I don’t, because it makes no sense to me that they would discontinue the most beautiful item they’ve ever made. The Circus Loose Powders are still available at some retailers, but apparently they’re going to be gone. The only justification for such a crime against beauty would be if the powder performed horribly… and that’s what this post is going to go into.

Flower Knows Circus Loose Powder review

I’m very pale so of the two powder colours, the shade 01 Transparent would probably make more sense, but I liked the blue and red circus packaging better so I had to go with the Beige shade. This was a purely packaging-base purchase and I’m not ashamed of it. Turns out 02 Beige is light enough for my skin – actually lighter than some of my other powders that fit me well – so it ended up being a good choice, however, it made it evident that Flower Knows does not cater to darker skintones.

Which is a shame, because this powder is actually quite good. It’s extremely finely milled, probably the finest powder I’ve ever come across. Super soft to the touch, and smooth looking on the skin. It does not emphasise dry patches nor fine lines, and even when I over applied it, my makeup never looked cake-y.

It’s not very drying, so I think it would suit dry to combination skin well, but oily skin types would probably find that this is not enough the keep the shine at bay and the makeup long lasting. In fact, having an oily nose myself, I noticed that this powder did not prolong the longevity of my foundation on that area. It is a good finishing powder to make the skin look good, but it’s not ideal if you need a foolproof powder (don’t sweat too much and don’t use it for a wedding, basically).

This comes with a powder puff and if has a sifter with it’s own lid. The puff applies a lot at once, it’s good if I’m in a rush but I prefer a brush, which provides more control in the application. I found I had trouble getting powder through the sifter sometimes, but fortunately the sifter is easy to remove and put back in, so I usually just take it off if I feel I’m not getting enough on my brush.

The packaging is mainly plastic, and I’m not sure if it has metal or not because the lid is quite cool to the touch. Either way, it’s not flimsy, and it feels and looks like a small case you would buy on it’s own to store jewellery. This was around 30€ for 15 grams, which is about the typical size full sized loose powder.

If you like the packaging like I did, get it before it’s gone. What’s inside won’t disappoint.
