Mother of god, the Mega Mothership palettes are the mother-lode of eyeshadows. It’s a great value for 18 Pat McGrath eyeshadows, and it’s something I’m becoming excited to see every year for holiday season. This year’s palette is currently on sale. It’s no secret I love Celestial Odyssey, since I’ve included it in my 2021 favourites, but read on if you want to see the full review (or just need some more convincing).
Day 12 of 12 Days of Xmas 2021: My Favourite Products From 2021
Here we are, Christmas Eve, and the 12 Days of Christmas finale!! I have to confess, this was a daunting task. A post everyday for 12 days in a row talking about so many favourites was really tiring. I wrote the words “smooth”, “pigmented” and “long lasting” so many times that they’ve lost all meaning. But I’ve pushed through and this project is now fully birthed. Just in time for the most famous birthday of them all.
This post will contain the best makeup products that I’ve tried and have come out in 2021 (limited edition or not).
Day 8 of 12 Days of Xmas 2021: My Favourite Palettes
When it comes to makeup, eyeshadow palettes is where the fun is at. Multichromes, foiled metallics, pastel mattes, glitters – the variety is endless. Where else, apart from my eyes, would I be able to wear radioactive green? I have a bit of everything in my top favourites, and I didn’t even do it on purpose.
Review, Swatches | Kylie Cosmetics Holiday 2021 Reindeer Eyeshadow Palette
Shall we get controversial? Let’s shall.
Review, Swatches | Huda Beauty Wild Obsessions Tiger Palette
There haven’t been many Huda Beauty palettes that I’ve set out to purchase (and yet I ended up with so many of them). Most came in kits, goody bags, or I had a gift card. But Tiger was different. I had my eye on the Tiger.
Review, Swatches | Victoria Beckham Smoky Eye Brick in Tweed
Victoria Beckham’s makeup line is one of the few influencer/celebrity brands (those seem to be sprouting all the time now) that I was intrigued enough to try out. Look and selection wise, it’s a very grown-up, polished and sophisticated line. You can take the Spice out of the Girl, but you can’t take the Posh.
Review, Swatches | MAC Cruella de Vil Collection: Cruella to Be Kind Palette, De Vil in the Details Lipstick
Cruella was always my favourite Disney villain. First of all, she knows how to dress. Second of all she’s truly evil. I feel like any other Disney villain wickedness can be redeemed or explained away with past trauma or whatever. The Evil Queen couldn’t handle the fact that another woman was prettier than her, which can be seen as a consequence of a society that values women mainly for how they look. Scar couldn’t handle the fact that he could never be king, showing what a broken political system monarchies are, where the only thing that makes you a leader is being the first born of a special couple.
Cruella wants to kill puppies. To make a coat.
Come on, the b*tch is fabulous.
Top 5 | Luxury Makeup Products Worth the Splurge
Here I am with another Top Tuesday, coming for your wallets. This time around it’s about splurging. One of the most useful top 5 posts I’ve made, I believe, because if we are talking about luxury, it better be a well curated selection. So I chose the top luxury makeup products I own that perform amazingly and won’t leave you crying over spilled money.
Top 5 | Best Products from Urban Decay (2021)
Urban Decay was one of my first makeup loves. Our relationship was solid for almost 10 years, but the last few have been rocky. I felt betrayed by the discontinuation of the Naked palette, my favourite thing about Urban Decay, and the new additions to the permanent line were no longer characteristic of the brand I fell in love with.
That said, I feel like there is some urgency in talking about their good products because everything that’s good is being discontinued and the new launches have been terrible. So before they get rid of everything good (like they did with the loose powder, the highlighters, the blushes), here are the top 5 products currently available that are true winners:
Review, Swatches | KVD Edge of Reality Eyeshadow Palette
I got this as a Christmas gift from Sir FiancĂ©. I think it was part of their holiday releases, but it’s still available for sale. He got me this, and I quote, “because since Kat Von D is no longer part of it, it’s ok to review things from this brand again. And this packaging is 100% recyclable”. I’m in shock at how much attention he pays. Actually, it’s worse: he researches.
I don’t think I’m that attentive. Do I need do step up my game? Do I have to start learning about cars?? I’m not ready to care about motors (and I’m an engineer by training!).
