We had no summer this year. Climate change is here to stay. There was sun, sometimes, but there was no heat. I’m used to 28º Celsius and up during Summer’s 3 months, and we had about two weeks of that.
I’m already missing something I haven’t had, so you can understand the dark mood.
If you didn’t know the song, now you know, your life is better now. And if you know what youtuber I’m referencing with that last sentence, give yourself a cookie. Go on. Blame the calories on me.
Given the tag line of this blog, it’s ironic that the first picture of this post is a display of sneakers. But these are so original and colourful that they made it. Still not for me, still sneakers, but I reckon they’re cute.
Chunky knits can be a safe default choice. They’re warm. They’re comfy. They’ll fit you even after gaining those 2 extra pounds during the holidays. They’re forgiving and won’t make your belly look any more obvious.
But they can also make you look frumpy and like you’re not even trying.
Polka dots are one of those things that never go out of fashion. I have a knitted cropped top from Zara that’s been worn to death because it’s one of my favourites to wear with high-waisted bottoms. The good thing about a black and white print is that you can pair it with the loudest colour in you closet, if you want. I chose my bright orange pleated shorts.
It’s finally getting warmer and one is ready to ditch the turtlenecks. Although this might be the calm before the storm – literally, April is usually the rainiest month – I’m going to enjoy it while I can.
The look for the day ended up being very 70’s style. I wore a leather jacket with a flowery print button up shirt, my leather bucket bag, black flared trousers, and my new pointy pumps.
Went to brunch at a place specifically chosen because they serve bloody marys (Dear Breakfast, on Rua das Gaivotas, in Lisbon, you’re doing it right), in red plaid and a torero-style jacket. I paired the high-waisted midi skirt with a tucked in plain red button-up shirt, and a black cropped knit jumper over top.
I knew what it looked like when I got it. The friend I was shopping with also knew what it looked like because she told me. Did I listen? Nope. The fabric had a great feel. The relaxed fit was confortable and flattering. I can make it work, I said to myself, no one will notice. You dumb b*tch.
