Beauty Empties – Hair, Bath and Body Products

This post is really, really overdue. The plastic of these empty containers is about to deteriorate, that’s how long overdue this post is. I keep holding on to all of these empty containers until I write this damn post, and I’m already a shopaholic, I don’t need to keep trash around to make me feel even more of a hoarder.

Body

Can you see that the lids on three of these body butters are completely crooked?? Fuji Green Tea is upside down. What the hell was I thinking?? This is OCD triggering. Just plain annoying. I’m an idiot.

I’m trashing 7 body butters from The Body Shop, 5 of them being completely used up. My favourite scent is White Musk, but I don’t recommend purchasing the big 200ml tub, because the smell turns plasticky quite quickly. Actually, some scents from The Body Shop have a really short shelf life – the worst offender of all was British Rose, which started to smell off the quickest. I only managed to go through half of it, and it’s a small size (50 ml). The Shea Butter, Coconut and Strawberry scents last really well. The Fuji Green Tea body butter started to turn as I was finishing it, and the Hemp is being thrown out totally full because my husband had it from before we met and it smells like mistake. I might repurchase the Shea body butter, after I go through all my other body moisturisers, so it’ll take a while.

I’ve used up the Ecooking Overnight Foot Cream, that I’ve already reviewed. Haven’t repurchased yet, but certainly will.

The Clarins Body Shaping Cream had a pleasant smell. Like every other shaping cream ever, it doesn’t get rid of cellulite, but it was nice enough to use, it’s just not on my short list to repurchase a full size. Also, I don’t think it’s available anymore.

The Ameliorate Transforming Body Lotion came in a LookFantastic box and it was one of the best discoveries I’ve made through this subscription. It leaves skin velvety soft. It contains lactic acid that provides a light chemical exfoliation, and yet it’s super gentle, fragrance free, and actually soothing. I liked it so much that I’ve recently purchased the supersize version.

Bath

A white background was not the ideal choice for these bottles.

I’m not a fan of strawberry scents, but someone gifted my husband (then boyfriend) a Strawberry set from The Body Shop, god knows why, and I don’t like for things to go to waste. The scrub had some sparse strawberry seeds as the exfoliating agent – not the smoothest or most effective. The shower gel was fine – but the smell doesn’t linger after the shower, which I didn’t mind in this case, (however I do find that The Body Shop shower gel scents don’t really linger). Needless to say I won’t be repurchasing either of these.

The Molton Brown Cypress and Sea Fennel shower gel was the total opposite though – the scent lasted well after the shower, and it was a nice, clean, fresh, masculine leaning fragrance. This one also came in a LookFantastic beauty box. I’m not sure if I’ll ever repurchase – I really liked it, but it’s pricey for what it is. I’m more likely to buy a perfume from them than a shower gel.

The Clarins Exfoliating Body Scrub For Smooth Skin was pretty great – the exfoliating beads were very tiny and really “polished” the skin. I liked it, but not enough to repurchase though. I still don’t think it’s worth the price, for me. I’m not someone who fake tans at all, and I prefer chemical exfoliants to physical ones.

Miscellaneous

The MyVitamins Hair, Skin and Nails were your typical capsule vitamins – they’re fine, but after trying the HUM gummy vitamins, I repurchased those instead, but in the HUM Hair Sweet Hair version.

The L’Oréal Casting Sunkiss Jelly is a gel that you add to your hair to get natural highlights and gradually lighten it. It works, by basically frying your hair a tiny bit. The hair gets drier, and with a bigger tendency to get split ends. It has to be used with caution. It was really old, so it got thrown away half used. I won’t be repurchasing.

The Soft Hands Kind Heart hand cream from The Body Shop was nice enough, but when my hands are really dry and sensitive I need something more soothing and with less fragrance. The StarSkin Hand Mask Gloves were nice (review here) but not groundbreaking. Won’t be repurchasing either.

I went through two body lotion samples in two seconds (the Clarins Moisture-Rich Body Lotion and the Rituals Organic Rice Milk & Cherry Blossom body cream) and didn’t like the scent of either strongly enough to repurchase.

The Healist CBD drops and the Spacemask aren’t really “beauty realm” products (unless you think of them as “beauty sleep” helpers). Both were reviewed before and my opinion remains the same – just want to add that the drops changed colour really fast so I stopped using them immediately. Long story short, won’t repurchase the first, might repurchase the second.

Finally, I can throw the trash out!

Thanks about the Body Shop butters tip, I didn´t know their smell goes off so quickly.
