10 Lessons I Learned With 100 Blog Posts

Time flies when you’re over 25. Years, not posts. I started this blog two years ago and it feels like it was 3 months ago, max. The past post was my 100th. Even though I feel like I haven’t learned all that much, after 100 pages of content, I must have some lessons learned, right?

Here’s a list of 10:

  1. Lists are overdone. But they work and I’m fuelled by irony.
  2. The posts that get fewer views right when you publish them may turn into the ones with more views in the long run.
  3. Consistency is the most important thing and something I consistently fail at.
  4. There are a lot of bloggers who like a post, follow, then never show up again. And I mean literally never. Usually the content they blog about has nothing to do with mine. There’s nothing wrong with following unrelated blogs, I do follow quite a few, but to never come back? This is clearly follower fishing, so you follow back and give them more views.
  5. A lot of people who put a like in a post don’t read it. Not all, but still a considerable amount.
  6. There are some legitimate comments that end up in the Spam folder. Don’t forget to check it, you don’t want to neglect a true, engaged reader!
  7. Better pictures attract more views.
  8. Everybody says that to blow up as a successful blogger you should find a niche, and that’s true, but for us deflated bloggers, the posts that are more “mainstream” (makeup reviews of popular products, in my case) are the most successful.
  9. Quality over quantity, always, but quantity matters too.
  10. There will be posts you know nobody will care about, but you’ll still want to post them. It is not always about the views, sometimes it’s about doing what you want just because you can.

  1. 8.) is so true. My blog is makeup focused but, I don’t always want to write reviews. Though, those posts are the ones that do well. I’m always torn between what gets traffic and what I want to write.

    1. Exactly. It’s a delicate balance – both can became quite demotivating. On one side, we should write what we want, but on the other we want to be read. I try to marry both… but there’s always that sprinkle of random posts that have nothing to do with anything, that I write just to make me happy ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Congrats on the 100 posts. Iโ€™m coming up on mine too. It took me longer. I agree that sometimes I want to write what I want and it doesnโ€™t matter if anyone likes it. When I write, itโ€™s out of my brain and onto something I can see and look back at.

  3. First off, congrats on the 100 posts. and secondly, the spam folder thing is SO ANNOYING. I recently discovered that comments went there lol :/
