This is the final post on this series, and it had to be dedicated to my favourite makeup thing: blush. I love blush. This is an old tag, but very fun to answer nonetheless. Any excuse to stare and swatch my blushes really, I’m happy with.
Makeup Tag Week is a series of posts of my answers to popular makeup tags spanning one week, one tag a day. Why? ‘Cause whenever I see someone else do tags I end up wasting waaaaay too much time trying to answer them for myself, and I thought I would give a better end use to my procrastination excuse.
1. Best Packaging – MAC Dynastic Fantastic Powder Blush duo and YSL I Have a Blush on You from “The Street and I collection.The best packaging for me is this type of collector items that still manage to be practical: both of these blushes have big mirrors and large pans, which makes the product easy to use, but distinctive and gorgeous compacts that are a pleasure to look at.
2. Prettiest Color – are you f*cking kidding me? How the hell is anyone supposed to answer that? Instead, I’ll leave you with a picture of pretty blushes:
3. Most Pigmented – Illamasqua. Hands down, it was the pigmented-est 10 years ago, it stands the most pigmented to this day. The lighter shade, Katie, doesn’t darken when you apply it on the skin – it’s amazing.
4. Everyday Blush – currently, MAC Fairly Precious because intense sheen is trendy. Used to be Benefit Dallas, a matter, subdued, goes-with-everything tone.
5. Party Blush – Any NARS Orgasm type of shade – it looks great in pictures, goes well with cool or warm toned looks because it has a pink hue but gold shimmer at the same time. Pictured here, beside the Orgasm/Laguna duo, is Milani Luminous blush (discontinued) and The Body Shop blush in 04 Golden Pink (also discontinued, I think).
6. Regret Purchasing – Lancôme La Roseraie Illuminating Smooth Powder. It’s too light for a blush, too dark for a highlighter, and too pink for a setting powder. No point to it honestly.
7. Least Used – MAC My Paradise blush from the Surf Baby collection. I can’t bring myself to do it. I’ve kept my brush on the orange area to the left of the flower, but it will still pick up gold and I just end up not using this all that much.
8. Most Used/Would Never Let Go Of – I’m answering with limited edition blushes for this category because those are truly the “would never let go of” blushes – permanent items I could always repurchase. MAC Seduced at Sea Extra Dimension Blush and Clarins Palette Eclat Face & Blush powder. I used both to death, even though the Clarins one doesn’t look so. They’re great everyday blushes as well.
9. Favorite Blush Brand – These questions kill me. I have to say MAC – across the board, either traditional, baked or gelée formulas, their blushes are amazing. And the color range is really good.
10. Greatest Blush Discovery of Last Year – NARS Exposed Cheek palette. Who knew NARS could make gelée formula blushes so well? Well, everyone, because they came out with those Dual-Intensity blushes a while ago, but I wasn’t able to try those and only bought this palette last year.
11. Most Practical – Marc Jacobs Air Blushes – they have a big mirror, very large pan so it’s comfortable to fit a brush in, but it’s still slim and compact. And they always have two colors in it so you can actually customise the color.
12. Least Practical – Everyday Minerals blushes – actually, any loose blush really. It’s a mess to deal with and the brush ends up picking too much.
13. Most Expensive – Lancôme Blush Rose Désir, I think. It’s a limited edition blush that I managed to purchase with 20% off, but still remember it cost me a lot. It’s gorgeous though.
14. Least Expensive – elf Studio blushes – are these going away? They’re on sale now. The shades in the photo are “blushing rose” (left) and “pink passion” (right).
