Makeup Log – 3rd week: in which I gotta get my life together.

Makeup Log is a series where I keep a record of the makeup looks I tried during the work week, the combinations of products I used and how they work out for me in an attempt to find the perfect makeup look for my wedding day. Because I’m crazy and I’ll be doing my own makeup.

For the first half of the week I didn’t have time to do an eye look. For the second half I did but I forgot to take pictures right after and ended up only photographing later in the day at work with sh*tty lighting. Seriously, I gotta get back on track. It’s time to feel motivated again.

Monday and Tuesday

I fell back into a five minute routine. An easy, full coverage foundation that I can apply with my fingers, bit of powder, eyeliner and mascara.

Wednesday

I tried my Nivea primer with the Shiseido foundation – both very long lasting products on their own – but my foundation was patchy and oily at the end of the day It was at the end of a 14 hour day, sure, but still, my makeup has looked better before after so many hours. I don’t know if those two products don’t work well together or if the elf powder made things worse, but still, not a great makeup day.

Friday

I liked the skin combination so well on Thursday day that I decided to repeated it on Friday. I realised I underestimated this primer. I also loved how the Physicians Formula Natural blush looked on the cheeks the previous day. It’s a soft, natural pink with a subtle glow that lasts all damn day. I think it just became the front runner for the wedding day.

I have strayed away from my wedding eye look to make room for colour and experimentation. I get bored ridiculously fast so I’m allowing myself this tangent. It’s bad enough I’ve only basically used light pink blushes. Hey, at least it’s practice.

  1. I love this as a serious, really forces you to try everything in your collection! And I haven’t seen the Nivea Men’s Aftershave Balm in a makeup post for ages, I completely forgot that was a thing! x
