Review, Swatches | Marc Jacobs Holiday Collection: Pop Rox Glam Glitter and the Jet Girl O!Mega Luminizer that no one is talking about

This post was anticipated due to the current Sephora Surprise Sale for Black Friday, because one of these items is currently 30% off.

I missed out on Marc Jacobs’ holiday makeup collection last year, so when I read that the brand was coming out with the See-quins Glam Glitter eyeshadows again I jumped on it as fast as the first Sephora sale would allow me. I managed to refrain myself and got only one colour, Pop Rox.

Fast forward a month or so, and they launch, still as part of the holiday collection, a new highlighter, the (it’s a mouthful) O!Mega Glaze All-Over Foil Luminizer in Jet Girl. They had already released a highlighter at the same time as the See-quins Glam Glitter shadows, Showstopper, and it didn’t get the best reviews – less luminosity and more glitter, in short. I took the advise of beauty reviewers out there and didn’t got that one. This new highlighter though, is redemption in luminous form.

Here are reviews and swatches:

This is one of those creamy, yet still powder eyeshadows, like the L’Oréal Infallible pots, that seem almost like a paste. There’s a black stopper between the shadow and the lid to prevent it from drying out. The colour is a warm, purple/burgundy shade with multicoloured glitter (that’s difficult to pick up in the photos).

I have only applied it with my fingers, I prefer it that way due to the amount of glitter. I find it’s the best way to prevent if from falling out, plus it adds more intensity to the shadow than if it was applied with a brush. The eyeshadow applies beautifully this way, spreads like a cream, but it doesn’t crease for as long as I wear it. After a 10 hour wear, the colour is a bit faded, a small amount of glitter migrates, but overall it’s pretty much intact – and crease free.

This highlighter is something to be appreciated. A light peach colour, very warm, leaning orange, and very reflective. I initially thought it might be more of a blush or blush topper, but upon application, the base colour looked fainter and the shine took centre stage. Very reflective, smooth looking, gold shimmer (not glitter) is visible on the skin right after application but as the day goes by it melts more and more into the skin.

I don’t have a comparison swatch, but next to MAC’s Extra Dimension blush in Fairly Precious, the Marc Jacobs highlighter is less pink, warmer and more orange, and the base colour looks darker, but the shine is way more intense, more metallic.

The swatch feels very buttery and you can easily pick up a lot of product with a brush, but you get no powderiness in the pan.

Just a not so relevant note: I love the packaging. I like their classic black glossy compacts with the huge mirror anyway, but this had that glittery look similar to the MAC Starring You collection compacts. Yes.

For some reason when I was googling for reviews of this product, I only found Temptalia’s. Not that her opinion alone isn’t enough to convince me, but it’s always good to see a variety of reviews and swatches. I don’t know what’s causing the unpopularity of this highlighter, but it’s undeserved.

You like it? Go get it. It’s good. This is currently at $34 in Sephora is the US (instead of the normal $49).
