Shop & Tell: a Harrods Makeup Haul

I’m not one to visit shopping centers while travelling. Most brands are international, and the products and lines are the same everywhere. However, being my second time around in London, I felt I had enough time to complete the check list of must go-to places and do a little shopping.

We walk into Harrods coming from Hyde Park and wouldn’t you know, it was right into the beauty department. Some familiar brands, MAC, Bobbi Brown, then a little accessory section, and then the Mecca of luxury brands: Charlotte Tilbury, Tom Ford, Christian Louboutin, all having a party in the same hall. Right after that there was the market hall, and the first thing I face when entering it is the Fromagerie. Had to exercise a bit of willpower right there. Then in the hall after that I was confronted with chocolate. Makeup, cheese and chocolate, people. It’s like they knew I was coming.

…I didn’t resist the chocolate.

We are now the proud owners of Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate.

Sir Boyfriend made some techy purchases, I got chick stuff. Basically some makeup cult favorites from brands that are not available in my home country:

The spoils.

From Laura Mercier I got the Loose Setting Powder, which I’ve been hearing about from some lesser known beauty youtubers for years and years, and recently it seems everybody else discovered it and it’s experiencing an ever-growing popularity. I also got the Matte Radiance Baked Powder in the shade Highlight, being that it’s supposed to be a subtle highlighter (though not necessarily matte, from what I tried), which is the scarcest kind of highlight nowadays.

I also got two of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders, in shades Mood and Luminous. These are becoming the trench coat of finishing powders: a basic piece that you should always have in your collection because it’ll always be useful, and something that will stand the test of time because their popularity doesn’t decrease. Last but not least, I got the Clinique blush in shade Peach Pop. Beautiful glowy peachy stuff right here. Clinique’s line in Portugal doesn’t carry the cheek pop blushes for some reason I don’t know, and that’s just mean.

I know the powders look the same but they’re not. They’re different enough for a makeup crazy person like me to justify getting both.

I’m not infinitely rich– correction: remotely rich – so I did not visit the shoe department. It would only end up in heartbreak.
